Literature Review Different authors and scholars have had varied views on the role of visual culture within the multi-cultural society in the contemporary world. In both his works, Mirzoeff (â€Å"An Introduction† 3; â€Å"Visual Culture† 4) argue that visual culture depends of the circumstances under which various images are made and this may not have a significant impact in changing the per ceptions of the viewers in relation to accepting and assimilating cultural diversity. Ruby (1345) also adds that stakeholders in the visual culture are only concerned with the personal interpretation of the image presented. Consequently, the viewers are likely to have varied perceptions especially given the negative and positive feelings created by the image thereby acting differently as in the example of the fetish (Fusco 368). This explains why some countries or regions would censor images to avoid the negative feelings and interpretations (Sturken and Cartwright 390). The idea of having varied feelings brings about the idea that regions and people are different and so are people. This has only worsened the situation in the assimilation of cultural diversity perspectives especially in the contemporary world. Another argument by varied authors and scholars on the impact or role of visual culture towards enhancing assimilation of cultural diversity is the idea of individualism. Ther e are studies proposing that instead of inspiring communalism and acceptance of the diversity in culture, visual culture has actually inspired individualism based on the magnification of contrasts that exist between regions or people. In the roaring twenties, the life of organized crimes was at its peak. What was the greatest mob hit ever pulled off in history? Well I'll tell you. It all happened on Valentines Day, the morning of February 14th, 1929. This incident was call, "The St. Valentines Day Massacre". The man behind this infamous crime was none other than, the infamous Al "Scarface" Capone. Al Capone was the all time greatest mobster of all time. The idea of organized crime fascinates me in so many ways. Capone was the only person to have pulled off such a crime. Al Capone was top gangster in Chicago and was one of the greatest members of the Italian Mafia and George "Bugs" Moran was the leader of the Irish/German mafia and he was the main target behind this hit. He targeted Capone because Al Capone‘s had a bounty on his head, $60,000,000, and found George Moran as a threat. George was Capone's biggest threat of all. He needed to take him out quickly. Jack McGurn was responsible for many of Chicago's gangland murders, often without Capone's consent. President Lincoln and other Republicans were concerned that the Emancipation Proclamation, which in 1863 declared the freedom of slaves in ten Confederate states then in rebellion, would be seen as a temporary war measure, since it was based solely on Lincolns war powers. The Proclamation did not free any slaves in the border states nor did it abolish slavery.[1] Because of this, Lincoln and other supporters believed that an amendment to the Constitution was needed. In many parts of the South, the newly freed slaves labored under conditions similar to those existing before the war. The Union army could offer only limited protection to the ex-slaves, and Lincoln’s successor, Andrew Johnson of Tennessee, clearly had no interest in ensuring the freedom of southern blacks. The new president’s appointments as governors of southern states formed conservative, proslavery governments. Linda Browns parents filed a lawsuit to force the schools to admit her to the nearby, but segregated, school for white students. The Board of Educations defense was that, because segregation in Topeka and elsewhere pervaded many other aspects of life, segregated schools simply prepared black children for the segregation they would face during adulthood. The board also argued that segregated schools were not neccessarily harmful to black children; great African Americans such as Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and George Washington Carver had overcome more than just segregated schools to achieve what they achieved. The request for an injunction put the court in a difficult decision. Binge  Eating  (also  Binge  Eating Disorder)  is an eating disorder  in which  there is a periodic craving episode (binge eating)  with  loss  of  conscious control  over eating.  In contrast  to  bulimia, the  eating is  not  broken  then,  so  long  is  usually  the result of  obesity, as stated in What is binge-eating disorder? What’s the humor in that? There’s a difference between being funny and being disrespectful. A lot of us tend to be confused as to where to draw the line. While others simply like to cross it. It’s almost like a form of bullying, but not a lot of us see it like that. Ms. Angelou believes t hat there are other ways to make jokes and start conversation without having to stoop low and belittle someone. Our generation has grown to become more shallow and vain through the years.When entertainers, comedians, and people use vulgarity and crudeness to express their thoughts and use it in their jokes to make an audience laugh, it paves a path for the audience to chime in and think that it is okay to behave that way. Perhaps the person making the joke is hiding behind the shallowness in order to prevent exposing their own insecurities? Maybe they’re using obscenities and humiliation as a self-defense mechanism.
